Urbino ILAUD yearbook 2012-13

This publication collects ideas and designing proposals worked out from two-year experience of the International Laboratory of Architecture and Urban Design (ILA&UD) founded by Giancarlo De Carlo, and held again in Urbino in 2012-2013. The first part deals with the development and protection of the territory and landscape around Urbino and Montefeltro region, looking at the small towns spread along the Metauro and Foglia rivers. The second part focuses on Piazza del Mercatale, trying to explore possible solutions for its re-organization, including the Ducal Palace, the hill of Vigne and the buildings of the DATA and the Ramp by F. Di Giorgio Martini, conceived as an unique system of access to the city. The publication contains also many assays presented during the ILAUD seminar in Urbino about the new territorial challenges which have to be addressed by different cities in the world for the future.
