"overview" Charging the Future may have at least two meanings: a) charging our way by the use of credit and driving ourselves into an absolute financial disaster – which has gone from probability into a profound certainty – but this is not what the book is about. b) Our headlong going into the Future with a thorough disregard for the past. Which is to say, disregard for the essential postulates of our sacred documents (the Constitution, The Bill of Rights, the basic economic laws of supply and demand). As if we were waiting for somebody else to come and straighten our lives, we just go forward aimlessly. This produces various stages of sociological threat to our very existence (Columbine school shootings, the wars we are involved in, the trade deficit, the financial instability, the psychological consequences where our children are practically doomed, by our foolishness today. What else can the Future bring that is more important than our children’s doomed and threatened... More > existence. I) It remains obvious that practically every individual can gripe and complain about a whole series of “injustices”, while the active doing to reverse these harmful trends seem nowhere to be found. This book offers a practical constructive way out of our difficulties in a simple straight forward fashion. It may sound surprising how just a little more attention to education can eradicate a large percentage of the existing difficulties. Nobody is advocating a total government make-over, but small adjustments within our system of government can be viewed with positive anticipation. If a human mind is capable of sailing the huge oceans from one end to the other, if human mind can bridge the largest canyons, climb the highest mountains, tame the wildest rivers – it can certainly address and resolve issues as mundane as education, medical care and similar. II) Practical application is the particularly important field, and our history is rich with great individuals whose efforts have done many great deeds. The ingenuity was never in short supply in today’s United States. What would be so terrible if another Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin were born and applied themselves or their prior principles to the today’s difficulties? It is quite possible and even probable in this writer’s study.< Less
