My first love/ and my first poems / blossomed under a banyan tree/ my poems never died…. ... Sundar’s biggest dream is coming true. He has been accepted into a PUC program in a far away city. But Sundar is seventeen and in love for the first time, and this is rural India of the 1960‘s, where cultural edicts reign superior to dreams of the heart. To stay back and fight would be to sacrifice the wings that would raise himself and his family from obscurity; to leave would be to rip apart the very fabric of his heart. And on the eve of his retirement, he reflects on where the memories and emotions of a lifetime head to after the final roll call has come. Once upon an autumn leaf is a story of the ageless loves that bind and tear us and the choices that make us into... More > what we are.< Less

Excellent piece of work…. This book was wonderfully written…..… Each and every page will make you to make your own memories you crossed in front of you. A definite story of true love …… This book is like a mirror: it gives back to anyone the reflection of their thoughts in which they have strongly believed. I appreciate the way it was written…………

The story is an excellent piece of work- complete with beautiful poems and a touching story. I couldn't put the book down, until I finished it all in one sitting. From the initial chapter till the end, the story is touching and keeps you totally involved with all the characters; human lives and emotions are portrayed in a truthful and realistic manner by the author. I enjoyed the book thouroughly and a worth reading!

It is rare to find such a pure and simple love story weaved with emotions that will make the reader cry and smile. The poetry is simply delightful. Characterization is brilliant. It is pure talent to be able to write something of this quality. It takes you back in time like watching a movie. I hope many find joy in reading this lovely piece of art.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this! Simple, lucid and a very effective style of writing! A beautiful decription of human emotions, dreams, memories and life in general! An excellent narrative of the rural South India of the 50's- with an essence and thoughts that most people from any generation or background will be able to relate to.
