<b>Addressing Malnutrition</b><p>In the UK, it is estimated that malnutrition affects more than 1 in 10 people living in sheltered housing. Likewise, it is also an important problem affecting all age groups in the wider community. It is often attributed to growing old and in many cases it is not recognised until it severely and detrimentally affects well being, activities of daily living and behaviour.</p><p>Yet malnutrition can be effectively prevented and treated by simple means. Drawing on the multidisciplinary expertise of the Group on Nutrition and Sheltered Housing (GNASH), BAPEN and Nutricia, this guide shows how we can work together to address the problem of malnutrition and includes:</p><p>* What is malnutrition and what is its impact?<br />* Screening for malnutrition<br />* Working with others to address malnutrition<br />* Training available<br />* Good practice examples from a range of organisations involved in multi-agency projects<br />* Final pointers and further sources of information</p>
