When he arrived in New York in 1880, at the age of 20 years old, Isadore Levinson left behind the old world for the new. He soon became a peddler, like many others, traveling by train and on foot (or by Indian pony) from Chicago to Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri, Colorado and then on to California. This candid and poignant memoir was written in 1929.
