The ARCH2020 studio will explore the idea of human inhabitation today in a moment where the lack of oil and other resources announced during decades seem to be in our door. The design, production, and policies that generate housing play a critical role in shaping our lives and cities. Housing design raises demands thinking about more than just the physical planning of spaces. We will question cultural assumptions about cultural identity, individual and collective needs, density, definitions of family, city models, production of resources, and connection to the ground and the sky.
