I know I am not alone in the discovery that Mr. Miller is a strong writer and that this book, in particular, is replete with moments of real humor and creativity. Can't recommend it more strongly.

Chockablock with wit, wisdom, and wordplay. Enthusiastically recommended!

When I finished this deep and whimsical book full of philosophy, wisdom and fun I said something I unfortunately can say about maybe 10% of the books I read: "I loved it." If you think it's just another man-and-his-dog book you're in for a surprise. It's unlike anything I've read. Why a mainstream publisher wouldn't pick this up is a mystery.

Just when I thought there could never be another wonderful book about the relationship between dogs and owners, I came across J. Mudcat Miller's book. It is a vivid, heartfelt account that will resonate with any reader -- whether they have a dog in their life or not. I finished the last page wishing I'd grabbed a rake and joined man and dog for their dialogue.

The title provokes a chuckle, but the novel evokes a certain old-fashioned story-telling that is hard to find on our bookshelves these days. It's a wonderful read.
