    We just got this very nice review and a 4-star rating from Lori M over at Reader's Favorite (, and we had to share it with you: "Even those readers who don't particularly like poetry will find something to like in J. R. Simons' Streetlight Sonata. This eclectic group of poems contains all things that the average person can relate to but are so eloquently expressed by Simons. The poem titled "Grandpa" evoked memories of my own Grandpa and the specific sights and smells that stir up those memories. I couldn’t help but wonder if the cover photo was of the author’s father that he writes about in his poem, “Dad.” His piece titled “We Rode Poems” contained the powerful lines, “I remember staying up all night riding poems; their simile eyes black as periods on end-stopped lines.” Something for everyone, the titles of Simons’ poems include “The King of Pasta,” “Baptism,” “May 4 Memorial, Kent State University,” “The Brown Bear at the Cleveland Zoo,”... More > and many more. I read with interest J.R. Simons’ bio indicating that he’s an adjunct instructor of English Composition, Theatre, and Drama. I wish only that I could have had such an instructor in high school or college to instill in me the love of poetry and exposure to the type of poems that are written by J.R. Simons. As a college professor myself, I hope that I am as eloquent in my areas of expertise that J.R. Simons is in his."< Less
