In the early years of the 21st century, the world was rapidly going to Hell...and Ben Walker was determined not to go down easy.
From his tiny community of Paradise, Ben and Jesse--his younger brother--tried to keep a spark of civilization alive so that one day, like the legendary Phoenix, a new world might spring up from the ashes of the old...
But there were those among the remnants of the old world who were not as anxious as the Walkers for the return of a civilized world. And they would stop at nothing to thwart the plans of Paradise.
Two reluctant heroes must therefore join forces to save their world in a world torn apart...
This is the first world-wide printing of this prophetic novel.

This book was written by my two sons who very graciously sought my counsel during its development. First of all, I was intrigued by the story line. The depiction of a world wide economic collapse was somewhat prophetic, although in the real world it was not quite so devastating as in the book. I was and have been very objective in my assessment of this work; no prejudice involved. Upon reading the finished product I found it to be a well written story, with outstanding character development. It possesses humor, personal insights into the two brothers; their weakness and their strengths. Their individuality is starkly defined while preserving their close sibling ties. Using the state of Wisconsin as a home base for "Paradise" was in itself interesting, but not surprising. Both sons have resided in that state for the greater part of their lives. For a first time endeavor, From the Ashes is worthy of an expanded readership. I would encourage any consummate reader to avail... More > themselves of From the Ashes.< Less
