BLOOD RED: Genesis of a Psychopath
eBook (PDF), 192 Pages
"BLOOD RED: Genesis of a Psychopath is stark and unrelenting in its graphic presentation of the character development of psychopaths. Some of the characters and events are real. All of the characters are realistic and they provide the raw material to introduce a new profiling technique. The author, Jack Osborne, is a correctional professional who has worked directly with scores of real life psychopaths in maximum custody prisons. The character profiles were completed by Russell L. Smith, developer of the BRACE™ model and the BRACE Character Profile™. Jack and Russell are friends and in combination they have produced a unique work of interest to law enforcement, writers, and anyone else interested the nature of psychopaths or in profiling known or well conceptualized characters." ... JOHN DOUGLAS, New York Times best-selling author, founder and ex-Chief of the FBI’s Investigative Support Unit, criminal profiler

Jun 12, 2008"Riveting, Knowledgeable, and Well Written " Mr. Osborne has gone beyond the superficial profiling and the excessive generalizations of psychopathology to successfully captured characters who exhibit and possess these horrific thought patterns and ghastly behaviors. His gripping tale provides his readers with a tangible narrative, which greatly outweighs that of the abstract psychological jargon flooding the market today. He and Mr. Smith have combined efforts and effectively encapsulated both the theoretical and the concrete aspects of this disorder to create a book worthy of any collection.
Jan 20, 2008"A Must Buy" This book is a must read for true crime buffs as well as those interested in the genesis of true psychopaths. The charaters are very depictive of humanity and the crossover from good to evil. Jack is experienced in law enforcement and Russell's BRACE character profiling is an excellent tool that would be a plus to any law enforcement agency.
Mar 16, 2007"Very well written" The story was excellent. Very interesting characters, especially Milo. I loved the skunk. Kai was interesting. I like how the story started out in the head of a kitty. That first scene was a good hook to grab and hold my interest. It was an interesting perspective to take. I've noticed that animal POV is not that common in books, maybe because it is hard to do, since the thinking must be so simplistic which is hard to pull off well. It's also quite difficult to change POV so frequently, jumping in and out of so many different heads. The author does it very well. There was a lot of characterization in that story, which is hard to convey quickly, in the short amount of time that some of those charcters had the camera on them. I was impressed with how well the author made his words count, conveying the essential elements of their character in a relatively small amount of words. I enjoyed the story a lot.
Jan 28, 2007"Great Read!" The story is gripping, the characters are a mixture of seediness and pure humanity, good and evil, curiosity and dread. It's a must have for crime buffs, not only for the story, but for the BRACE character Profiles and information. Jack Osborne and Russell Smith truly did a great thing! Get this book, you won't regret it!
Jan 12, 2007"Review from a psychologist" Blood Red: Genesis of a Psychopath is the book which allows the reader to visualize the actual behaviors of a psychopath. It is a quick read and the author knows this world from the best vantage point possible; his own observation. As a worker in the field of criminal justice I would recommend this book to those who may consider this career path and as a teacher I would add this book to any reading list for abnormal psychology or forensics. We have descriptions of behaviors in clinical text books but Jack Osborne has generated discussion of this serious topic by anyone who reads this book.
