"Charades in the Desert Sands" is based on a true story of an American woman who married a Saudi man while he resided in the United States and became a victim of domestic violence at his hands and went to Saudi Arabia, where it was learned life for women, especially victims of domestic violence are indeed left to the mercy of God's hands where men rule and women are truly mere chattel to the men in their lives. The book tells of the personal horrifying story of being trapped in an abusive relationship and of a country that is ruled by ancient old customs and cultural practices that never seem to change. This book is an eye opener to not only victims of domestic violence but for Americans to see that Saudi Arabia is not an American ally as many government officials want Americans to believe.
