"The Gaia Schism" I found myself buying this book for a mid price read, being on a student grant. Its exactly the right theme, dealing with everything teen. What would you do at the end of the world? how do you deal with monsters, no cliches no wooden characters. Its probably the only book I have red three times in a row, each time the story elements are fresh. This book is not the sort of rubbish that clutters the shelves of cut price bookshops. My grateful thanks to an author who cares about people, here is a writer who writes and has fun with writing. There are some carefully put in subplots with subtext driving plot lines. Its like several books in one, your idea of the book and what you wish to get out of it depends on what part your reading, I found at least five subplots! that all cohered and made sense. This is someone who understands people and the evil they can do at there basest and the heights people go to at there best. I cannot compare to anyone else, because... More > there is no one who writes like this. Its style and genre are all original, in not so many words an intelligent writer, if you do anything get this book, I can find perhaps one fault with it and thats the fact that the writer is unknown. I'd expect the writer to be a well known horror writer with a big price tag attached. But we have a very reasonable price tag, many thanks James Annal for scaring me.Please write more and scare me more!!!!!!!!!!!< Less

"The Gaia Schism" A very enjoyable Experience, so worth the price. Nicely set out. Theres some very hard work and research between the covers, the Author has a grip on Romanticism and Modernism. The characters development is extensive, so many books are let down by cardboard cutouts and hackneyed situations. It takes the issues that terrorize todays society, forces both political human and supernatural and presents them concisely. I for one am looking forward to sequels, if you find yourself wondering should I shouldn't I. Then Go for it, I have no idea who James Annal is or what it cost him in time effort and money. But this represents blood sweat and tears. This book took me back to hiding under my covers, the psychological impact is enhanced by the total lack of swearing and filth. You could let a teenager read this and they would come back for another book without the parental worry that the book will corrupt young minds. This takes the essence of the Hero's journey and... More > places it in the coolest ever context. This book ROCKS totally! My suggestion is reward the persons faith in his readers and buy the book. He has invested heavily in the audience, rather than write a book for himself its a gift from the author to the reader.< Less

"The Gaia schism" I am very wary of todays litriture because of unsuitable themes for my teenagers. being a protective mother is unpopular, but my teens ordered this book. I read and re read this book so that I could make sure no unsuitable themes were present. I must say it was a pleasure to read a book that was in the style of the romantics, aka shelly etc. I would love to see the sequel to this novel. The hills are alive with the sound of screaming....!
