"a look into love at first sight and an old fashion courtship " In the forward the author says "My original intention for writing this book was strictly for the family." but it turned into so much more. If you ever stopped to wonder how your parents might have met or your grandparents, if you ever thought "I wonder what she ever saw in him" or vice versa, this book is not only a tribute to 2 people who were the world to so many of us, but for the outsider looking in it is but a glimpse of what it might have been for their grandparents and many others in generations before them. Its about propriety and family, it is about old fashion courtships and love at first sight, and its about the whisper of great things to come. Although the start can be a bit confusing for some, for the ones who know Maizie, this book is also a sort of tribute to her story telling as well. As you sit with her in life, there is no telling when or how one of her stories will come or how... More > confused you will feel in the beginning, but if you stick with it, by the end you are totally enthralled by it and by her,to the point that you dont want the story to ever end.< Less

"a page turner" Unexpectedly, I found myself reading the book waiting in line, in bed far past my bedtime, not wanting to put it down, and wanting to know “what happened next.” While I don’t know any of the characters in real life, I found myself getting to know them well from the narrative, and enjoying every moment of it. In his first book, Jim Dinah has portrayed life in the Cayman Islands, a story of vast cultural differences, and the process of falling madly in love so very well. Why DO we fall in love? What is it that makes two people attractive to each other? If you know these folks, you’ll love the book, and if you don’t know them you will get to love the book and get to love the characters. This was one of the most fun books I’ve read in a long time, and I simply couldn’t put it down! Check it out for yourself.
