On August 3, 2006, thirteen US Soldiers were sent to the worst village in the Korangal Valley. Abandoned by the Afghan National Army soldiers supporting them, the small force was ambushed by a numerically superior Taliban force. Almost out of ammunition and water, the survivors were ordered to continue their mission. Landigal is a story of courage and shows how the American soldiers who served in the Korangal Valley live up handsomely to the finest traditions of a superb fighting force - the United States 10th Mountain Division.

Thank you James for letting America have a peek into the life of the Korngal Valley. My son was there in this mission, and many of my friends that have now read the book, are in awe. In awe of what our Soldiers go through, and in awe of the great ability you have of pulling it all together. Do I see a movie in the future?? Thank you again - and God Bless!
James Christ did an excellent job of telling the true story of a patrol in the Korengal Valley. It is a gripping story that really takes you back to the moment. You can almost hear the machine gun and mortar fire echoing up the valley again. This book accurately reflects the Infantrymen he writes about and the situation they were in. Just like the motto of 1-32 Infantry, "Against All Odds" those men made it out alive. I recommend it to anyone who wants to understand what Infantrymen go through in battle. War isn't a movie or video game, there is no soundtrack, no do overs, just men like these that give everything they have got to keep each other alive in sometimes ridiculous situations. God Bless the Infantry! jeb
I really enjoyed reading this book. The author did a BRILLIANT job of reconstructing what happened and telling the story. I served in the Army under Military Intelligence myself, but this book really opened my eyes to some of conditions and horrors that our infantrymen face. It brings to light many of the hardships they deal with on a day to day basis that people who have not seen combat would otherwise never understand. Highly recommend it! With some editing work, I really believe this book has the potential to be a bestseller!
