This wonderful readable history paints a vivid picture of life in the 1950s in a small Lancashire town and offers a wide range of very interesting perspectives on which to ponder. The author tells not only her own childhood and teenage experiences but also reveals stories;skeletons too;of generations of her family ,along with those of a selection of her friends. The portrayals of often austere life on the hills around Northern Lancashire will have readers nodding in recognition and laughihg out loud at the many exploits presented. Janet has delightfully woven the narrative of her own formative years into a superb , illuminating account of the early years life of a real Lancashire Lass. A must read!

Brilliant stuff. It does what it says 'on the tin'. A real trip down memory lane, you can almost smell the soap.
