Janine Wong works in various media of artist’s books, printmaking, painting, architecture and design. This body of work was a project to use detritus from her work, and from her everyday life in attempt to see what “self-portrait emerged”. The work explores relations that emerge through layering and juxtaposing objects and images. Wong used collage as a sketch process that worked with “bricolage” – a French term meaning to construct with what ever is on hand. Each collage represents a day of exploration. When the collage is finished that day, it is never reworked. The collages transform existing fragments from the artist's life into images that present a pulse of her daily creative activity and visual diary of her days.
