A quick and captivating read, Jason Broadwater forces the reader to ask questions about our current revitalization efforts. I recommend this book to anyone looking to expand on their thoughts of urban revitalization, particularly in historic towns.
As a recent transplant to York County, I found Jason Broadwater's authentic perspective of Rock HIll's economic and social history both informative and entertaining. This book, however, is so much more than a look at the past. Old Town New World identifies an economic future built on the principles of work rather than jobs. The premise is more than timely - it is forward thinking! Jason Broadwater is at the forefront of an economic ideology that is destined to become part of our collective conscience.
Old Town New World's insight on new economy and its true impact on culture is invaluable. Broadwater's story is the that of an everyman navigating American development in the new millennium. The perspective gained on his journey gives Old Town New World a sincerity that's obvious from the first page. I picked it up to glance at it and ended up finishing it in one sitting.
