I thought this book was extremely interesting, and the mind behind the writing is amazing. To weave together a story like this in such a beautiful and captivating way. I loved it. He used really big words, but I love big, and I love words so I loved this book. I'm a fan! Wonderful job.

I F&*$*@! loved it! But I have an affinity for grandiloquent sesquipedalian that macroverbumsciolists can't appreciate. Seriously, it was a very interesting story and the writer did a great job exercising his craft. I can't wait to read more by this author.

I don't normally review works before I've finished them and never after page 10, but I can tell after just one chapter that no matter the brilliance in the story itself, the writing is so annoying that whatever comes next I can't pretend that my opinion will change. One of the basic rules in writing is to not turn your reader off in the first chapter. There are many ways a writer can do that and this author breaks my biggest pet peeve of all. It's pretty simple. The author received a thesaurus for Christmas and edited his novel to contain as many $10 dollar words and/or phrases as he could per page. After page one I thought to myself, he's going for a more classical cadence which makes sense as there's a time travel element(it doesn't quite work for me, but I could buy that,) after page three I thought: I almost see this, I'm interested already, but really? This is linguistic chowder. "Somnolent dignity" "ingenuous pertinacity," & "...though which I... More > illustrated a disposition to shoulder some of the physical strain attendant upon the maintenance of his sanguine art..." are just a few of the completely useless word choices. Are you serious? I can't tell if the narrator thinks too highly of his intellect or the author does. Either way, it just doesn't work. There is little flow. There is no life in the words. It borders on almost comical. Literary doesn't mean flashy. Even the simplest of stories has some lyrical quality we can connect with. This just doesn't work for me. If you want to show me something about the narrator and you're using your word choices to do that? Great! Stop throwing expensive words around and sounding like a pretentious twit and show me that. It gets slightly better by the end of chapter 1, but I was already peeved. I don't think there's anything wrong with these choices on their own, but the amount of them, one right after the other is distracting and rather annoying. I want to clap my hands and say: Woohoo, I have a dictionary too! Now actually write, and stop stringing words together. I know I'm being harsh here, but I think part of that is because despite my annoyance, I like what I'm reading. I want to read more, but I don't know if I want to continue if it's the same nonsense page after page. I'm not saying don't read this. I'll finish it myself, but I'm sad that it starts this way. It has a wow factor lost in the word soup and that's the real tragedy.< Less

The font the ebook is published in is far too small to be readable on my KOBO. 8.5 point!! The author needs to review the way he publishes ebooks to make them more widely available. I now see why it is free.
