Historical Fiction/Mystery/Supernatural. Troubled reporter Dick Clarke is sent to Pennsylvania to cover the re-enactment activities commemorating the anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg. While there, he hears the true story of Jennie Wade, Wesley Culp, and Jack Skelly, three childhood friends who grew up together in Gettysburg before the start of the Civil War. Dick learns that after being wounded during a Virginia battle, Jack (a Union soldier) gave Wesley (a Confederate soldier) a letter to deliver to Jennie if he ever made it back to their home town. One month later, Wesley is killed at Gettysburg and both his body and the letter mysteriously vanish. That same day, Jennie becomes the only civilian casualty of the battle, and Jack dies from his wounds just days later in a Virginia hospital - the secret of the letter going to the grave with him. After experiencing strange visions and phone calls, Dick begins an investigation of his own and soon learns the truth behind the Dear Jennie letter.
