"GAS - Guitar Acquisition Syndrome" Reading this book put my playing and collecting into a new perspective and positive evolution. I had owned an early Fender Strat some time ago but sold it (my mistake) after I had stopped playing for a number of years. My interest and enthusiasm were revived when my son wanted to learn to play and I took him to a guitar shop shop. Being in the presence of so many guitars required my buying another. Then it came to trying this one, trading for that one , and so on until I began to appreciate different types, setups, makers, and any number of other features. I am glad that it was because of my first trade and later conversations with Jay that I increased my appreciation for collecting, and found more reasons for really appreciating this one and that one. And while I was reading GAS, I was learning from the ideas and perspectives of so many fellow players and collectors that my own grew to the point where I now appreciate my collection,... More > relatively small but very special to me - so much more. Thank you, Jay, and I think we're all looking for your next edition(s) for even more thoughts to think about.< Less

When I saw this book I knew I had to get it for my brother, who I think has a pretty bad case. (13 guitars IS a lot, right?) I gave it to him for Christmas. He read it in one sitting and laughed all the way through. Kudos to Mr. Wright for helping family members & sufferers alike deal with this affliction.

"G.A.S. problem" What problem? I don't have a G.A.S. problem. I can quit anytime I want, I've quit 9 times. Is there a 12 step program for this?

"Zen in the art of Guitar Collecting" The book that ultimately describes the human infliction known as GAS. Giftedly documented with light humor, testimonials of collectors and players alike. Read how many of us sufferers find ways around the art of deception to validate another guitar. If your a wife, or friend of such a person it is a must read to understand this real syndrome some of us guitar lovers have. I consider guitars art! Heck lots of people collect art without having to validate such behavior. This is a fun read I highly suggest. As for the author, someone should write the book on his generosity and good spirited nature never a better person to have known.. He ain't wrong he's right, Jay Wright.

"My Name is Kevin and I am a GASaholic" Very funny!!! As a personal friend of the author and a contibutor to this book, I couldn't wait to read it. It was very funny and insightful, full of humurous anecdotes along with some interesting perspectives from other guitar player/collectors. A must have for any serious guitar player.
