"GAS - Guitar Acquisition Syndrome" Reading this book put my playing and collecting into a new perspective and positive evolution. I had owned an early Fender Strat some time ago but sold it (my mistake) after I had stopped playing for a number of years. My interest and enthusiasm were revived when my son wanted to learn to play and I took him to a guitar shop shop. Being in the presence of so many guitars required my buying another. Then it came to trying this one, trading for that one , and so on until I began to appreciate different types, setups, makers, and any number of other features. I am glad that it was because of my first trade and later conversations with Jay that I increased my appreciation for collecting, and found more reasons for really appreciating this one and that one. And while I was reading GAS, I was learning from the ideas and perspectives of so many fellow players and collectors that my own grew to the point where I now appreciate my collection,... More > relatively small but very special to me - so much more. Thank you, Jay, and I think we're all looking for your next edition(s) for even more thoughts to think about.< Less

When I saw this book I knew I had to get it for my brother, who I think has a pretty bad case. (13 guitars IS a lot, right?) I gave it to him for Christmas. He read it in one sitting and laughed all the way through. Kudos to Mr. Wright for helping family members & sufferers alike deal with this affliction.

"G.A.S. problem" What problem? I don't have a G.A.S. problem. I can quit anytime I want, I've quit 9 times. Is there a 12 step program for this?

"Zen in the art of Guitar Collecting" The book that ultimately describes the human infliction known as GAS. Giftedly documented with light humor, testimonials of collectors and players alike. Read how many of us sufferers find ways around the art of deception to validate another guitar. If your a wife, or friend of such a person it is a must read to understand this real syndrome some of us guitar lovers have. I consider guitars art! Heck lots of people collect art without having to validate such behavior. This is a fun read I highly suggest. As for the author, someone should write the book on his generosity and good spirited nature never a better person to have known.. He ain't wrong he's right, Jay Wright.

"My Name is Kevin and I am a GASaholic" Very funny!!! As a personal friend of the author and a contibutor to this book, I couldn't wait to read it. It was very funny and insightful, full of humurous anecdotes along with some interesting perspectives from other guitar player/collectors. A must have for any serious guitar player.

"A wicked little gem" A real page-turner full of obsession, envy, jealousy, treachery, beauty and brutal honesty. Almost reads like fiction until you realize he’s writing about you so don’t read this book unless you’re willing to admit you have an addiction. This is the quintessential handbook for those who fancy themselves collectors and a humorous glimpse into a mad world of excessive guitar acquisition for the uninitiated. Informative, well thought out, humanistic and downright funny. From what little interaction I have had with the author it’s obvious he’s certainly an expert in this field as well as an incredibly nice guy. Do yourself a favor and read this book. Shutting up.

"The Price of Gas is Laughter!" This is a chuckle-a-second book with explosive laughs at myself thrown in about once a minute. Don't let anyone read it who can restrict your use of credit cards! Seriously ... ah who needs serious. Just get one of these and unashamedly enjoy our affliction! (After all, we do it with guitars!)

"I am not alone!" If you've experienced the pains of needing that additional guitar, amp or effects gizmo, then you too know what GAS is all about! The author of this book walks you through all the symptoms with great humor and witty insights - a fun read and filled with anecdotes you'll likely relate to if your a fan of guitars and music gear. Mr. Wright's proceeds also go to a great cause so at least this purchase might help more than just your GAS pains ;)

"Finally, THE book for serious G.A.S. sufferers....FUNNY!!!" This easily read, well-written text on guitar collecting fever is a revealing and very humorous glimpse of the spectrum of this disorder. It is a MUST READ for anyone who has even just wandered around a guitar store in a slight daze, while the afflicted who read it will feel a sense of arrival, a tale of kindred souls and fellow sufferers. I am still recovering from the after-effects of sore ribs and facial muscles, after laughing so hard. I was unable to put this book down, and it was easily read in an evening. Absolutely terrific release from this first-time author, and looking forward to his sequel(s)....and a PERFECT gift for the holidays.

"A funny and easy read" If you don't understand why you have to have that "next" guitar this book will help explain it. I believe the author can relate to the affliction, which for me makes the book even better. I now use the book as a reference guide to help me figure out the "why" of wanting more guitars, as well as how to hide them! And if you think you have a bad case of GAS you only have to read it to find someone with a worse case.
