Memom's Diary is a compilation of Katherine Harvey Rogér’s memoirs. A life of perspective emerges through her struggles and joys as a wife, mother, writer, artist, and historian during the years 1928 and again during World War II. Her ancestral history is interspersed throughout the book and embellished with early photographs from her albums, newspaper clippings and more found in her scrapbooks. The diary serves as a springboard, jumping from portions of her life to a pictorial journey of her father’s life. Horace H. Harvey, known as the “Father of the Inland Waterways” - so named for the key role he played in developing the Harvey Canal into the Intracoastal Waterway. What began as a drainage ditch in the 1720s, shortly after the founding of New Orleans, is today a vital link in the expansive Intracoastal Canal system. Whether reading about the every day life of raising a large family or of a life contributing to Louisiana history, one will find that... More > each life was truly extraordinary.< Less
