"A witty, engaging read!" "Swimming with Sharks" is hilarious, thoughtful and full of longing. Each of the five stories revolves around the desire to connect with others, and the fear of doing so. "Pictures" is reminiscent of Richard Russo's "Empire Falls" in its examination of the tattered remnants of a marriage post-divorce. "Approaching Denise" is a bittersweet, "if-only" tale of the love that might have been. "The Top Ten" veers veers away from romance, and presents an amusing take on prophecy and connectedness in the modern age. "Pants on Fire" could have become a predictable rant against men, if not for the surprise ending. Finally, the title story takes you to Mexico, and a man's realization of his purpose and worth. I devoured this book quickly, and hope to read more from this author soon. The first and last story have the potential to develop into novels. I recommend this collection to anyone who... "A wonderful read, left me craving more" Can't wait for the next book from this promising new author! The characters are beautifully drawn and you become instantly invested in them. The stories were complete in themselves but all but top ten would have made great novels or novellas. I hope she considers expanding upon them!
