I received my 001 today and off the bat, I can say there are some things about it that I really like. The maps are accompanied by scales & area information broken down into important increments. For example, the Style VI map scales are broken up into 10-25-50-100 yd increments so it's easy to describe things in terms of player movement. Each map has an associated details list that, in most cases, is on the same page as the map so that you can tear them out of the notebook and add them to a binder or campaign folder. The scales are also described in terms of an earth sized planet so for someone building their first campaign, you can keep sizing in perspective very easily. All of the larger maps have notes for equivalency between their smaller styled maps which is a nice feature. There are some things that confuse me about the design. The Continent (style 2) maps do not have setting notes on the same page as the map. Many maps have details on the back of the page but to forgo it... More > entirely for a whole style is strange. I won't say this is a bad thing, just an odd inconsistency. There are some things that I feel purchasers should be aware of. The pages are not perforated so you will have to use a copier or rip the page out to remove a map from the book. Some people may not mind and I realize the book is to used to define an entire campaign in a single book but it's still good to know. The paper will bleed with sharpies but holds up to ink and highlighter reasonably well. More seriously, the printing of the grids is inconsistent in darkness. There are some maps where the finer lines are quite dark but many are difficult to see. The larger scale delineators are all consistently dark but the smaller scales vary wildly between dark and almost invisible. The printing issues are consistent map to map but vary between styles. Overall, there is a lot to love about this book. I have a campaign that I'm starting to document using this tool and I anticipate it will be a great boon. It's a joyously large book that I would recommend to anyone who's got a big world to put to paper and who won't be bothered by a few printing issues.< Less
