Books are like road trips, they lead you to a place. Some road trips are made just for the leisurely ride, observing the scenery and ultimately reaching your destiny. Other road trips take you through turns and twists, up mountain roads and back down to flat land, all the while celebrating nature and its relationship to the human soul. Farinara takes you on such a journey. Erin, the narrator, drives through this magical road trip and introduces us to the other characters in the book. We learn that sometimes there are no years between generations; they can be bound by the gift of visionary “imagitrons” and insight, and that how “we steer and what we experience along the way is up to us.” We are reminded that ultimately, we reserve the right to choose our own paths. Our road trip takes us through the fictitious Zynaeas and its hidden powers, and we are introduced to teleologists, etheric plane scanners, scryers, and the guardian of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We come to “see” the... More > importance of the gift of our senses. A descriptive and cerebral writer, Jeff Barbour “surfs the waves of the universe in his imagination.“ We are narrated into a world of Devas and spiritualism, and of how we mistreat and disrespect our host planet. Jeff, like Erin, is a preparer of the way. He is trying to make us understand the folly of our ways, and teach us the importance of the human soul and our responsibility to ourselves, to one another, and most importantly, to our precious planet Earth. I not only enjoyed my road trip, but like all good road trips, I learned a lot along the way. One of the lessons I learned was that I can take a life-long journey, but if I have not gained love along the way, I have really gone nowhere. As Barbour writes, ultimately we will all shed our layers and stand naked before the mirror of the self. I highly recommend reading Farinara, and look forward to experiencing some of the author's other books.< Less
