Santa Monica

The work in this book, Santa Monica, was derived from our Bloomingdale’s Santa Monica Open Call, which was developed by Crussell Fine Arts as a democratic means to search for art. The search was open to any and all artists no matter their experience or representation. The artist’s identities were concealed during the process until Bloomingdale’s made their final selections to purchase work for their new Santa Monica stores permanent collection. From the submitted works Crussell Fine Arts selected 187 of the most outstanding pieces for this book that reflected the theme of the West Coast, the city of Santa Monica and the Southern California culture. Following the publication of this book Crussell Fine Arts organized an exhibition of 50 selected pieces to appear at the Orange County Center for Contemporary Art.
