This is my first time reading Jennifer Lawrence's fiction, and I have to say -- what the heck was I waiting for?? Fire on the Mountain starts off pretty dark, and stays dark throughout the tale. Damiana Gray has suffered a lot already in her life: an unhappy marriage that ended in the horrible accident that took her family, her music career, and a healthy body, and that's really just the tip of the iceberg, as we'll see. She's seen some things and done some things, and right off the bat, you find yourself wanting nothing but good things for her. Instead, she gets an injured fey upon her doorstep, his enemy close behind, and an adventure in his world looming large. Fairy tales are not happy things. They are dark and they are dangerous and they can be deadly -- or worse. Magic is tricky. The fey are prickly. There are reasons we like to pretend they're not real. I found Fire on the Mountain to be a perfect read -- the story was fulfilling, the writing the sort that allows one to slip... More > right in, and the pacing spot-on. This may have been the first of Jennifer Lawrence's books that I've read, but i will not be the last.< Less
