After receiving a copy of Jennifer’s book I started to read it immediately and was unable to put it down. I laughed, I cried, I wanted to jump up and down and scream… “FINALLY…!!! SOMEONE GETS ME!!!!” It was as though Jennifer had literally crawled into my body and life and was describing in exact detail everything I was feeling and had been trying to express for the last two years of my life! I was involved in a near-fatal ATV accident two years ago and am also recovering from a Traumatic Brain Injury. It has been a very trying and difficult time for me in many areas of my life. Jennifer has inspired and given me hope, and even though rehabilitation from a Traumatic Brain Injury takes a lifetime commitment, I refuse to let a brain injury conquer me. “Once I recognized my limits as obvious indicators of what I needed to eliminate, life with a brain injury became easier and I could feel in control again. I began to focus my energy on healing.” I will do things which are hard to do!!! I... More > can be successful in whatever I want to be and do! Jennifer’s book is captivating, sincere and heartfelt. She has written it in a way that is easy to understand and follow; perfect for an individual with a brain injury! This book is a MUST READ for anyone who has a family member, a friend and most definitely for an individual who has a brain injury.< Less

"NOTE TO SELF..." :) The Smile on My Forehead brought a smile to my face... and a few tears, too! I had the pleasure of being Jennifer's college roommate when she returned after the accident. She was still a little taped up, still had metal rods in her femurs, and had an unbelievably amazing survival story! I knew she had some difficulties with her memory and some new physical limitations, but I never would have guessed what she was going through as she adjusted to life once again. She was always cheerful, gorgeous, intelligent, friendly, and admired! (She still is!) I couldn't put the book down... Her voice is genuine and even amusing, and her life is inspiring and encouraging. It is a quick must-read for anyone who knows her and for anyone who's life is somehow effected by a brain injury. I adore this woman! EVERYONE DOES! :)

"Great Book - Inspiring Story" I just got my copy of The Smile On My Forehead in the mail a few days ago and I think it's great. At first, I wasn't going to start it that night I got it - we've got six kids (3 of them are 3 yrs old) and I've been pretty busy at work. I was up late and ready to go to bed. But, the book was sitting there and I thought I would just take a glance at the cover. I started reading and I couldn't put it down until I got through the 2nd chapter - and, yes, I even completely read the Acknowledgments, Foreword, and Preface. I also admit that I couldn't keep from shedding a few tears as it gave me a chance to relive a little of what Jennifer and her family went through. I was captivated by the great description of how her reformatted brain works as she discussed a day at her United Way job, and then totally captivated by the account in Chapter 2. I think anyone would find the story intriguing, dramatic, and quite emotional - and not just those that... More > know her. As I'm writing this, I'm thinking - I could totally see this being made into a movie - she should contact the folks that make Hallmark movies or something, really. There are two passages from the book that stood out to me. First, near the end of the Preface, "...conquering a trial that I never expected to endure." That means so much - it just captures the essence of what Jennifer's story is about, and left me thinking about my own trials and what may yet come for me and my family. Second, pg. 11 - "From then on, the doctors asked my dad to remain seated when he came into my room." Classic! And then overall, just how neat it is that she's been able to share her story in such an intimate way and how it helps others understand what she and her family have been through together, and what others may face in similar situations. I hope a lot of people get the chance to read this truly great story. Steve Lee Burlington, KY< Less

"Review of The Smile on My Forehead" Whether you know Jennifer or not, you will be inspired by The Smile on My Forehead. Maybe it will force you to try something new or challenging, focus more on the important things in life, realize that your daily challenges are most likely trivial compared to what others are faced with, or maybe you’ll feel inspired to be a better person, spouse, parent or friend. Of course, I was extremely excited when I received my copy of The Smile on My Forehead because my amazing cousin wrote it! Jennifer and I literally grew up together. We were born two weeks apart. I was an only child and spent as much time with the Mosher family as I did with my own. Most of my favorite childhood memories/experiences included Jennifer. I have always loved and admired Jennifer like a sister. I knew first hand how wonderful and strong the Mosher family was. I’ve been telling Jennifer’s story to anyone who would listen for the past 14 years and I still choke up... More > every single time. The story I have always told went like this … Jennifer was in a terrible car accident, broke both femurs, broke her neck, was in a coma for a month and had a brain injury. It was bad. My mother and I flew to Nebraska to say what we thought could be our last goodbye. The image of her lying in that hospital bed looking broken is one that has never dulled and will never leave me. I thought she may not survive or she may never wake up, walk, talk or ever be the same. Jennifer did survive. She defied all odds and she is doing incredibly well now. You would never know what she’s been through if she were standing in front of you. She is a real live miracle. That was my version of Jennifer’s story which I just now realize was accurate but somewhat incomplete and very high level. So of course I was as proud as could be when I opened my package and held her book in my hands! I sent my kids outside to play immediately, plopped right down on a comfortable chair, and dove right into the book. While I expected the read to be a little emotional, I thought it would mostly be a reminder or re-cap of what I already knew about Jennifer’s accident, rehabilitation, and her life since. After all, I thought I knew her story. Instead, my experience was incredibly emotional and gave me unexpected insight into challenges and experiences I was either completely unaware of or only understood at a high level before now. I learned that there is much more to Jennifer’s story. The challenges she has faced and overcome are heart-wrenching and her accomplishments are that much more impressive because she never ever complained to me about anything and she has always been very humble. I have been so proud of her that for years I thought maybe one day I would write a book about her. But of course, she beat me to it because she is Jennifer, determined and accomplished.
