This book takes a unique look into the lives of young black male youth from the point of view of a teacher. His perspective is up close and real. He gets into the family life of his students, the uneven exchange between him and his students. He even recounts some of the failed discussions he has had with some of the fathers. To his dismay, many of the dads are not present in the homes of these youth. It's an excellent book for parents and teachers. It's a book that not only examines some of the problems plaguing black male youth in our school system, but it also offers recommendations to ameliorate the plight of these youth. Moreover, it's an excellent resource for teachers new in the educational field.
