A model of film style's position within the semiotic process\226articulating a signifier, a signified and a sign for style in narrative film. The styles of a film and its remake (Imitation of Life [John Stahl, 1934] and Imitation of Life [Douglas Sirk, 1959]) are analyzed in order to create a model of stylistic semiosis in the cinema.
