I think I'm in the minority these days, but zombies have just never been on the top of my "favorite supernatural beings" list. I love science fiction , and enjoy almost anything with vampires, witches, werewolves, superhuman's, etc., but I've never really been too excited about zombies. That said, I actually found "Hope When There is None" to be suprisingly interesting. I started reading it one day this past summer and couldn't put it down! The characters are well thought out and unique-not just flat stereotypes as so often is the case in zombie media. And this book is not just about zombies. I don't want to spoil any suprises (and there are many in this short volume), but the author has created a whole supernatural universe with many unique elements that will suprise and delight fans of the genre. I would definitely recommend reading this book, and I am eagerly awaiting the second volume!!

An online friend living in Texas recommended this guy to me and I'm glad he did. I'm not a massive zombie fan, and in truth would have maybe rated the story a solid four stars had it not been for the strong characters. Not just strong as in physical strength but in emotionally durable! I hate books where the women are eye candy and ultimately bowing to the young men. In this story though in my opinion the two best characters are women, and the next best is a 9-year-old boy with the ability to control animals! Reading how these pretty ordinary reluctantly take the reigns of destiny and forge a path (through zombies) for others is pretty exciting to read. Five stars for unique characters with witty lines and non-cliche interactions. The story's not perfect, but I'm convinced the author's got good things planned. I'm hoping to read more from him soon.

"Hope When There Is None" marks the beginning chapter of a five volume anthology of survival, triumph, and hope. Volume 1 chapter 1 (1.1), which is entitled "Survival", launches the story into a busy mall where something horrific takes place. Panic and confusion from bleeding victims swarm the mall pleading for help. Absolute terror spreads fiercely through the mall's inhabitants as the dead and mortally wounded begin to rise and feed on the living! Nevertheless, several individuals in this particular mall hold some surprises of their own as they all work together to wage war against the dead and find a way to safety. Even when the horrors of this life seem ready to devour you there will always be those who fight for hope when there is none! Though sometimes this work does sacrifice logic for creativity, it does give fans of the zombie genre a big gulp of what they want with a few new concepts. The action is fierce and the tension is high as the book moves at a... More > breakneck pace. 1.2 is coming soon!< Less
