The script known as proto-Sinaitic is believed to be the genesis of the alphabet. /\/\/\ , the 13th letter of it, represented water, waves, movement. Étienne Jules Marey and Eadweard Muybrigde achieved the same that /\/\/\ did and they depicted movement in a way that had never been done before. Poetry provides a way of representing language (be it words, images, whatever) as a fluid, capable of motion.
