This book does a great job of introducing web development. It goes over a great variety of topics and is easy to understand. I've read 200 pages so far on my own. The only thing is that in some topics, it doesn't seem to go into full detail (like PHP). However it does give references to other resources for learning more about those topics. PS: Being $55 here, and around $100 everywhere else, lulu.com definitely has the best deal!
