“Marine Science Research Center + Museum” By Jhoana De Feria For the Master project I’m interested in reactivating the Guantanamo Bay waterfront by introducing a Marine Science Research Center and Museum. The new typology will emerge from a group of fragments of relationships between programs and the site, in order to coexist and connect to the area. Moreover, the proposed program will work directly with the already developed Meteorology Research Center, providing a multidisciplinary collaboration hub in Guantanamo Bay. Consisting of about 90,000 SF, the Marine Science Research Center and Museum will utilize passive and active systems to create a new model for a sustainable and affordable typology that can be used in other locations in the Caribbean.
