"Absolutely loved it!!" I couldn't put this fascinating book down (and I'm NOT an avid reader). I would carry it with me everywhere I'd go so I could keep reading it. It always felt as if I had a funny friend keeping me company. You will definitely laugh reading the perceived miseries and misadventures of the protagonist, Duncan. The voice is straight-forward, gender-bending casual, rich. It has the urgency and plot-driven quality of "Tales of the City," the explicit and graphic erotic aura of "The Swimming-Pool Library," and the honesty and authenticity of a "Dexter" episode. I never lived in Chicago, but after reluctantly finishing the book (wanting to know more of what happens to all those characters which I feel as if they are my own friends) I was certain that I had just taken a trip (metaphorically and literally) deep in the 80s Gay Chicago. And the way the book ends gave me goose bumps.

"The Mars of Malcontents" For anyone that likes to be entertained this is a MUST READ. Start to finish this book is a blast, I loved it. I am now "insatiable" and can't wait for the next for the next Jim Logan book.

"Mars of Malcontents" It's hysterical in a way that no other 'gay' book that I've read. I feel I knew those characters and probably do. Duncan is one of those people you want to hit and hug at the same time. The ending was perfect and totally unexpected! Young gays just feeling their way through the world will love this.

"Timeless and Fun" While the story is set in a very specific time period with a specific cast of characters, there is something very universal about the story that I think most gay men will understand (and those with close gay friends). I know people personally that I would identify with each character. Being from Chicago makes it more fun, but it could be any urban landscape. Just as I can label the people in my life as "Samantha", "Carrie", "Miranda" and "Charlotte" from "Sex and the City", there is a similar sensibility to Jim's characters. It is such a fun read that, by the end of the story, it was like a drug! I want more!!!!
