The Mormon Delusion. Volume 1. The Truth Behind Polygamy and Secret Polyandry.

eBook (PDF), 428 Pages

Price: $12.90
The first in a series of books comprising an exposé of the Mormon Church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints). This volume concentrates on polygamy and little known polyandry which is hidden from rank and file Mormons. Historical evidence proves the Mormon Church has rewritten its own history through lies, suppression, omission and interpolation; such that the truth is so well hidden from members; unless they look outside the Church for information; they will never know of the continued conspiracy to deceive them. Contains over 120 pages of appendices, including complete lists and analysis of all the wives and families of Joseph Smith, Brigham Young and Heber C. Kimball, highlighting polyandrous relationships and children born into those unions; plus details of over a hundred children born post 1890 to polygamous wives of General Authorities who violated their own canonised Manifesto after they had covenanted to stop the practice. I am seriously impressed by his 1st Volume: ‘The Truth behind Polygamy and Secret Polyandry.’ Jim is a stickler for detail and a bit of a perfectionist – he wants to get things right and this volume does just that. Packed with detailed information – much of which I never knew before; it is painstakingly laid out, covering the entire early history of polygamy and polyandry - right up to, and past the Manifesto era. I highly recommend it as a serious study of polygamous Mormon history. I have read all 5 volumes. His first 3 are just packed with well resourced historical information. When I then glanced at the contents of his last 2 volumes (4 &5) I thought they would be boring. Why should I want to read about the Missionary Discussions or The Doctrine and Covenants again? But I did, and was amazed. If I had to read again any of his books, it would be those last two. Jim brings some very interesting angles and background information on the lunacy of basic Church teachings I once... More > thought were so true. I particularly found his scolding of Smith’s absurd god (with a small ‘g’) to be profound as well as hilarious. Seeing through Jim’s eyes, I discovered that the god of the D&C (Smith invented Revelations) was petty, vengeful, nasty, petulant, arrogant, small minded, deceptive, violent, inconsistent and wholly unreliable... and far from convincing. He describes in frustration about the god that never seems to stop blaming and threatening his own people as well as constantly labeling the entire human race as ‘evil’.... “Why can’t the Mormon God, just for once, be NICE – ever? Although I have penned my own book on the subject (The Youngest Bishop in England), I would seriously prefer a doubting and serious searcher of truth to read Jim's volumes before mine as they contain more information and evidence of the hoax. The author’s grasp and knowledge of science, physics, geology, archaeology and biology, is evident throughout his writings. His journey has been a hard and cruel discovery of facts and like many honest and utterly devout souls who can no longer live a lie, has incurred alienation from his family with suffering and rejection. His books stand as a supreme achievement and offer a light and warning to the world of the real history and face of Mormonism. For me personally, they stand as a major resource and comprehensive evidence to the great Mormon deception; every important issue is there and written with painstaking meticulous care and correctness.< Less

The following is an shortened copy of the review I placed on Amazon: "There is no faith required in order to believe what you will read [in this book], just common sense and reason." The Mormon Delusion: The Truth Behind Polygamy and Secret Polyandry combines honesty, scholarship, good writing, and -- best of all -- common sense. His complete comprehension of his subject reminds me strongly of D. Michael Quinn's studies. As the title of this volume states, it presents evidence -- massive evidence -- of the practice of both polygamy and polyandry in the early church, beginning with Joseph Smith himself. For those unfamiliar with the term, polyandry is the practice of having more than one living husband at the same time. Also, the niceties of obeying local and federal marriage laws were completely ignored, and the Church leadership was the only arbiter of who married whom. I should note here that I, like the author, am an ex-Mormon, of similar age, and have left the Church for... More > similar reasons, although we live half a world away. Also, something that I had known about but had not examined closely was the utterly ruthless, unethical (to say the least), cruel, and un-Christ-like actions of the Church leaders to suppress and lie about the early history of the Church, its teachings, along with the teachings and behavior of its many former leaders. The Church leaders today -- particularly the "15" -- the twelve apostles and the three-headed Presidency (the President of the Church -- its "prophet" and his two counselors) have systematically attempted to conceal embarrassing facts about the Church, which would tend to make it look kooky or otherwise questionable. The Church has driven out honorable men and women who have had reasonable questions about the Church -- destroyed careers, broken apart families, and caused life-long anguish. The 15 and those who operate under their authority ought to be feel incredible guilt and shame -- but, of course, they don't. Thanks to the internet and brave men and women like Jim Whitefield, the truth is slowly coming out. The hemorrhage will continue and get worse and worse. I probably will not see the final collapse, but I am certain it will come. I am looking forward to reading the next four volumes of The Mormon Delusion. Thank you, Jim Whitefield, for all you have done and continue to do. I grieve for your sacrifices and grateful that you made them.< Less
