ByJocelyn Parent

Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
Canada’s Constitution has its origin in an important year : 1867. Here is the essential of what is Canada. However, 21th century’s reality is quite different from that year. Because society of Canadians is different, there is a need for modernizing what is considered to be the soul of Canadian democracy. Canada has a problem. The Canadian identity is based partially, and too much too often, on the identity of the French residents of the province of Quebec. And yet, the Canadian identity is able to thrive, to flourish and to develop in new ways, still Canadian. Canadian identity is in jeopardy because of the risks of secession are constantly brought back for public debate, while, on the hand, secession isn’t possible. However, Canadians have the right to have an identity for themselves, not base on their opposition to separatism, and they also have the right to a Constitution, both of which are thought outside the Québécois’s identity problem.
