Butterfly Effect: A butterfly flapping its wings causes a disturbance in the atmosphere and creates a tornado (or not). The works in this collection are based upon solving a mathematical equation to determine a point in space and time. Subsequent points are related to the previous point and are never repeated. This lack of repetition produces a line and, depending on the initial environment, a meaningful shape is created. On the pages of this book are all 365 fractals, one for each day of the year 2010. Think of it as a twist on the traditional 365 project. My goal with was to tease out of the world of fractals meaningful abstractions I don’t presume that all my abstractions are clear to the viewer. However, if you find one or two that cause a spark of recognition then that shared experience provides me the greatest satisfaction.
