"Very Moving" I got this book from a friend of mine who knows the author, and it is truly one of the most revealing, insightful portraits of old age I've ever had the privilege of reading. I especially loved the final story, "Isabella" which provides such an intimate glimpse of how thoughts fade in and out when a person is experiencing Alzheimer's disease.
"Deeply Moving" This book is one of the most touching accounts of the end of life that I ever recall reading. I would put this book in the category of a "Tuesday's With Morrie" in terms of describing how instructive life can be even as it moves into illness, disease, and decline. I read this book online where it has been downloaded over 200,000 times http://www.memoware.com/?screen=doc_detail&doc_id=19305&back=main and seems to have really struck a cord with the American Public.
"Alzheimers." As someone who had a loved one go through this disease, I can assure you it is a daily exercise in frustration and sadness. I met Joe when he was working as a caregiver for my father, and his tireless work with him, and many others made my father's and my families life much more bearable when my dad was at the end. Joe dares to suggest that people with this disease can still experience hope and even joy, and his work has for my family, truly been an inspiration.
"Beautiful Book" This book is an amazing example of how joy can be found in even the darkest of places. For anyone who has had a loved one go through Alzheimer's, I would highly recommend this book to lift your spirits.
