Thank you , for sending the cook book i found alot of recipes that i wanted to try and with easter comming up i food the easter cake i wanted to try to make. Thank's again Joann Mancuso
I was lucky enough to see this wonderful book of recipes mentioned on Facebook and through some research found it online. I am a native CNYer, have moved to Texas and although I do get back home a couple times a year, I still miss all the wonderful foods my husband and I grew up on. There are no riggies in Texas and no one has even heard of tomoato pie! Thank you so much to Joe, Jeanann and all the other contributors. I will be using this book a lot and so look forward to creating the comfort foods of home. P.H.
This cookbook has so many delicious recipes that I remember from my childhood. Everyone one of them evokes a memory or two. And the little stories bring to mind things long forgotten. It's a joy to read and cook from. I lived in East Utica so learned to cook Italian before I learned to fry an egg. My teachers were women and men who understood a balance of ingredients and flavors. They cooked like the TV chef's do now, without exact measurments. A recipe is NOT a chemical formula. Making a dish is an art. Bravo!!
Just bought the cookbook. Very disappointed. Many of the recipes don't even list all the ingredients - you just stumble upon them in the course of the cooking instructions (page 129 i.e.). Many of the recipes don't even list the measurements of each ingredient (pages 27, 141, i.e.). Hard to believe the authors would lend their names to such mistakes and print the book anyway.
I am having so much fun with this book. It is a blast from the past! Food you can't get here and nobody has even heard of. I am ordering another copy today and probably in the near future as a Christmas gift. I actually know some of the people blogging. Thank you for the great recipes I have missed for so long. _pe
