I will never forget the first time I saw a picture of our planet from
space. It was the now famous Apollo 17 photograph clearly showing the continent of Africa. I would never have believed that in my lifetime we would not only have the technology to capture
such an incredible image, but be able to map the entire planet in much the same way. Today anyone with a computer and the internet can look down on our planet with software programs and
see some truly amazing things.
This book contains a fraction of these. Some are oddities puzzling to us, some show the amazing ingenuity of people both today and in ancient times, some are just fun and some display the splendor of the natural world. I hope you enjoy this little tour around our amazing planet.
