As an educator, I am thrilled to see a book that so brilliantly highlights the value of creating exciting spaces for students to learn. Teachers and professors know that learning is not an isolated event. The environment matters. "Student Spaces" challenges the reader to think about the needs of students with it's beautiful pictures and student anecdotes. GOOD architectural design can trigger the imagination or spur motivation. Creative spaces tell students that they are valuable and that learning is fun. I trust that you will find this book inspiring as it highlights those schools have taken a risk on "good design" and are impacting students' lives. I hope that more schools will invest in learning spaces that are student centered, so that as Sims says "in the future, more people will say, "Oh, I went to a school like that".
