"A startling, engrossing work of art" Biando has done in "My Boyfriend's Back" what many writers try and fail to accomplish. That is, he's created a world in which one might want to inhabit, full of imagination, and love, and zombies. The technique of culling imagery from the unlikeliest of sources (an old French picturebook) is highly reminiscent of the zombie lifestyle itself. And as such, it serves to create novel correspondences each time you go through it. This book is an impressive (and beautiful) achievement, but it is not for people who need their hands held during a story. In the words of the immortal Ru Paul (himself, a zombie): "You better work."
