Gail Cotter was born in Portsmouth in 1953. Living and growing up in a naval port she quickly decided that the inevitable marriage to a ‘matelot’ was something to avoid and so purposely steered away from the boys in dark blue. But she didn’t steer very well because she ended up marrying one!
In 2007, with her children grown-up and living away from home, she continued to work and live in Portsmouth. However her partner took early retirement and headed off to the sun - returning home to the UK for short periods. Tired of only seeing him on her holidays she also retired and decided to join him. It was whilst preparing to join him in the sun that she discovered the lump.
This book chronicles her daily life since that alarming discovery - from that first shock, through the tests & waiting, successful surgery and the subsequent Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy.
