I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I felt myself living the events along with the writer. The reader does have to work throughout this book, so it is never boring. In my opinion this book would appeal to single moms (I am one) because it tells the story from the child's point of view from the beginning when his family was a nuclear unit and then through the death of each parent. It shows the turmoil of dealing with a mental illness also from a child's recollections. I highly recommend this book! It is a book that you will read again and again. I have read mine about 6 times from cover to cover, and each time I discover new tidbits of adventure, heartwrentching emotions, and the capacity of the human spirit to endure life's trials and tribulations. Thank you John David Higham for pouring your life out in this book for us to experience it with you.
