EARLY DRAFT James Maclehose emigrated from Scotland to Sydney, Australia in 1832. He was an enterprising businessman and ran a successful shop for ten years before the economic recession. He moved to Hong Kong and ran an Inn as well as trading in Sydney. He died young in 1852 aged 48.
