Price: $3.99
This is for the caregivers who have loved ones with Alzheimer's Disease. Some of us are adult children; others are marriage mates. It is a daunting task often including role reversal to provide the right kind of dignified care. This story is about caring for my dad. It includes encounters with Assisted Living as an alien life form versus home care, Hospice as an ally, trying not to be a casualty of the VA after having survived World War Two, an insurance company that would never pay, The Baker Act where psychiatric personnel spent more time talking to themselves than to my dad, and medical personnel more intent on relieving the swelling in his wallet rather than relieving the anxiety about his shrinking memory. For everyone who cares for a loved one with dementia it is important to remember to laugh even though there will be tears.

This book has a lot of heart. In addition to having very insightful ways to cope with an unfortunate disease, it also deals with it in a very meaningful way in which you can almost hear yourself rooting for the son and the dad. Loved the way it added humor and practical sites and solutions. It's a great read, so read it!

Really enjoyed reading the personal yet very relatable experiences! Even from the perspective of someone with very little to no experience with Alzheimer's disease, it grabbed my attention and made me want to continue reading. Definitely a good read! Learned a lot, laughed a lot, and loved it a lot!

I have read this through twice now and still found myself enjoying this book in all the ways I feel the author intended. There are funny moments, inciteful areas, times I found myself feeling the frustrations and wondering what I would do, and times where I felt a lump in my throat. This is written in a really careful way that tells a personal story that can be relatable to all.
