John Held Jr. is the most knowledgeable person whom I have ever known on the topic of mail art. Beyond understanding the medium itself, he follows the golden rule of writing about only that which excites him. The result is that passion bleeds through even the most minute details of his description of mail art's concept and manufacture. This book covers a history rich in politics, art, life, and industrial development, with an emphasis on rubber stamps. And, as is the nature of mail art itself, the story weaves in and out of John's own personal histories. I highly recommend this book for a take on life, art, and history that you will find nowhere else.
