EXTREME DX in "full color and large print" is a striking compilation of some of KL7JR's most exciting DXpeditions from the Alaskan and Canadian Arctic to the Tropics of Hawaii and the US Virgin Islands! Operating takes place in polar bear country, on Matanuska Glacier, near the terminus of Bear Glacier, from rare and remote "hard to get to" Alaska islands (Barren, Barter and Shemya), exotic countries (Dominican Republic) for contests, special events and using homebrew antennas or modified CB antennas on 10-80 meters. The color photos were taken buy the author adding more spice to the adventures! “The reading is ride along interesting, action filled and as real as it gets with ham radio. The kind of Amateur Radio adventures that most hams only dream of"! The very best of KL7JR.

If you are an arm chair DX traveler and want to know how real DX'ing is, then get yourself a copy of John's Extreme DX. You will need to pack a swim suit and also the heaviest cold weather parka you can buy to appreciate Johns' well written and illustrated adventures from the icy cold glaciers way up North to the boiling hot beaches of the Caribbean and the Pacific during his ham radio travels. John has taken DX'ing really to the extremes in this one! N4UJW
Some people are dabblers. Some people have passions. John is in the latter category and his two passions are ham radio and the Arctic. As you read this adventure you'll feel the frigid air in your nostrils and strain your ears to hear that weak station. You'll hear the groan of glaciers and the lonely howl of sub-polar winds. You'll see the sun slip below the horizon the last time for many days. John has an easy going writing style and reading his work is the same as listening to him tell you the story in person. His CQ follows the same easy going cadence and you never have to strain to hear his call sign. This is the next best thing to being there and a heck of a lot more comfortable. This is a good read.
This is a great book for DXers or armchair followers of DX! JR, I love your 'extreme' enthusiasm! Lots of handy tips too, on how to make the most of basic antennas and situations. I could feel that arctic cold! And the large format book and good colour pictures were terrific! Will definitely have to get some more of your books! 73/88 de lyn VK4SWE
