This is my FAVORITE of all from this author: His passion is palpable! It speaks of a dream realized for this man, or anyone reading. And, not only was the dream fulfilled, but was even more than imagined. The author's passion is touching, albeit contageous.
Like the photos of icebergs on its pages, at first glance the true depth of John Reisenauer’s book is hidden. On the surface Ham radio operators would find a kindred spirit in “Go North, John!” So would travelers who go to Alaska on summer cruises and come home with stories of heartbreaking beauty. So would hunters who go to Alaska in the fall and come home with trophies. But there are those of you who are drawn to Alaska by some nameless pull and who never quite come home again. For you, Alaska is a constant voice urging you to return no matter what the season, no matter what reason. You want to go back. And you will. This book speaks for you.
Usually I can put a book down. This one was an exception. Jahn had more adventures in Alaska and many folks who have lived there all their lives. His tidbits of history nature and personal observations make this a fast paced read and I could not wait to see what he would be up to next. If you're a ham operator here's something to rev up your hobby and go out to do something fun. Here's a good read and you will not have to take a test.
After I started reading it, I could not put it down! John's unique writing style pulls you into his adventures in Alaska, the Yukon and the far north with his writings about ham radio and makes you want more! This odyssey is packed with details, some history, facts and interspersed with stories about his ham radio hobby way up North and I highly recommend his book if you enjoy reading about adventures in ham radio and the far north and you can't beat the price.
